If the price of oil rises significantly due to political, military or economic conditions, shipping companies may charge a fuel surcharge.
The amount depends on the price increase, the route and the length of the journey. It is set approximately 4–8 weeks before departure, must be announced no later than 20 days before departure, and may not exceed 8% of the cruise fare. Payment is made on board and goes directly to the shipping company.
The imposition of this surcharge is in accordance with the European Travel Law Directive (EU) 2015/2302, L326, para. 33 and the General Terms and Conditions, and does not entitle the passenger to cancel the trip free of charge.
