Cycling tour along the legendary Rhine

This cycling tour will lead you along the legendary river Rhine through the Rheingau regions, as well as the UNESCO world heritage site Middle Rhine Valley. Castles and palaces, villages and towns full of timber-framed houses, vineyards and and wine taverns - this tour is utterly rich in romantic surroundings. The glamorous cities of Mainz and Coblenz with the "German Corner" are well worth a visit. This cycling tour along the legendary Rhine is perfectly suitable for both beginners and seasoned cyclists and will commence in Mainz.

Day 1 Arrival in Mainz
Embarkation starts at 4.00 pm, afterwards you can spend the evening in the historic city centre.

Day 2 Bad Mainz - Nierstein, approx. 20 km/12 mi
Today you will cycle along the Rhine into the wine town of Nierstein with a beautiful medieval town centre. You will then continue your journey to the imperial city of Worms by boat.

Day 3 Worms - Nierstein, approx. 37 km/23 mi
Many oxbow lakes give an idea of what the Rhine landscape once looked like. In the afternoon boat trip to Mainz.

Day 4 Mainz - Rüdesheim, approx. 32 km/20 mi
You can choose whether you want to visit the Kaiserdom (Imperial Cathedral), or hop on your bike straightaway. In Rüdesheim you will have great fun on a trip with the cabin cable car.

Day 5 Rüdesheim - Oberwesel, 26 km/16 mi
Impressive steep slate cliffs and dense forests line the way. Pfalzgrafenstein Castle sits enthroned on a rocky island in the Rhine.

Day 6 Oberwesel - Boppard, 20 km/12mi
By bike you cycle through the UNESCO World Heritage Middle Rhine Valley with its numerous castles and the Loreley.

Day 7 Boppard - Koblenz, approx. 22 km/14 mi
Vineyards and castles will guide you to the beautifully preserved Koblenz. Enjoy the view from the Eherenbreitstein Fortress and explore the old city.

Day 8 - Disembarkation and departure

• If you choose to wear a helmet, we recommend using your own due to the variety of head sizes and shapes and for hygienic reasons.

The booking process

Arrival "Cycling tour along the legendary Rhine":

• Arrival by car:
  public parking spaces in the vicinity of the main train station, price: approx. 55 € / week

• Arrival by train:
  Mainz train station

• Arrival by plane:
  Stuttgart Airport, further travel to Mainz by train, duration approx. 2,5 hours,  2x train change, standard fare approx. 35 €.

Return transfer:

• under your own steam by train, duration approx. 1 hour, 0 x train changes, normal fare approx. 20 €.

Personal bikes:
In principle, you can bring your own bike along. However, please note that your bike will be loaded on and off the boat twice a day along with several others and therefore slight cosmetic damage to individual bikes cannot be ruled out, which is why we do not take responsibility or liability for such damage. We recommend reserving one the excellent rental bikes we offer.

Perfectly looked after:
During your tour, we are available between 8 am and 8 pm, 7 days a week. We are happy to help with any kind of problems you might be having. You will find this emergency number in your travel documents.
