If you don’t feel like cycling, stay aboard the ship!
Between Cologne and Mainz, Cologne Cathedral and Imperial Cathedral you will find a stunning landscape ideal for bike tours. The area offers ancient cultural landscapes, which date back further than Roman times and the Rhine Gorge, which is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. It is also well known as a wine region for excellent wines and offers outstanding cycle paths, which accompany the Rhine. This tour on the river Rhine by boat and bike is also ideal for less experienced cyclists. The tour starts in Mainz.
Here you can find details about your boat, the MS Olympia.
Day 1 Arrival in Mainz
Embarkation starts at 4 p.m., afterwards you can spend the evening in the historic city centre.
Day 2 Mainz - Rüdesheim, approx. 32 km / 20 mi
You can choose whether you want to visit the Kaiserdom (Imperial Cathedral), or hop on your bike straightaway. In Rüdesheim you will have great fun on a trip with the cabin cable car.
Day 3 Rüdesheim - St. Goar, approx. 32 km / 20 mi
You will not only find impressive castles up in the hills, but also directly on the Rhine. Unlike many unlucky shipmen before you, you will safely pass the famous Loreley cliffs, which have been the stuff of legends for centuries.
Day 4 St. Goar - Koblenz, approx. 38 km / 23 mi
Steep vineyards and countless hill castles such as Castle Cat and Castle Mouse characterise the vistas in your tour through the romantic Middle Rhine Valley.
Day 5 Koblenz - Andernach approx. 25 km / 15 mi
Today you will cycle past Neuwied to Andernach. The baroque castle Engers, which was once inhabited by the Bishops of Trier, is particularly worth seeing.
Day 6 Andernach - Bonn, approx. 45 km / 28 mi
The cold-water geyser in Andernach and the sulphur springs in Bad Breisig are testament to the region’s volcanic past.
Day 7 Bonn - Köln, approx. 37 km / 23 mi
Bonn, the former capital of West Germany, offers a number of interesting buildings and museums. In Cologne, the famous Cathedral awaits you.
